
Kenneth Ray Krizek, 88, Jennings, passed away on January 24, 2022.
“Kenny” was born Kenneth Ray Krizek on August 30, 1933, in Dresden to
father William Krizek and mother Olga Marie Heilman. He graduated
Jennings High School in 1952 and obtained a Bachelors of Science degree
in Agricultural Economics in 1957 from Kansas State University. Kenny
started his lifelong career as a farmer-stockman in 1958. Kenneth
served in the Army National Guard from 1957 – 1962 as an ammo storage
specialist in the 110th ordinance Balillion in Norton. Then he also
served in the US Army from 1960-1961 as a staff sergeant in Fort Riley,
KS. Kenneth married Violet Day on February 19, 1965, in Manhattan, KS.
Kenny served as a community leader for the following organizations:
Decatur County Extension Board, Decatur County Soil Conservation Board,
Oberlin Jaycee’s, Jennings PRIDE Committee, Big Timber Cemetery Board.
In addition, he held public office positions on the Jennings School
Board (President) and Jennings Township (Treasurer), and Junior Chamber
of Commerce (State Vice President). Furthermore, Kenneth was a
Fraternal member of the following organizations: Jennings Post 351,
Norton Eagles, McCook Elks.
Survivors include wife, Violet Krizek of Jennings, KS; son, Theron
Krizek and wife Jill of Olathe, KS; Angelia Smith and husband Jeff of
Garfield, AR; four grandchildren: Logan Krizek, Kaedyn Krizek, Loren
Smith and Leah Smith; and one great-grandchild Eloise. Kenneth was
preceded in death by his parents William and Olga Krizek, infant son
Dominic, brothers: Edgar Krizek and Lloyd Krizek, and sister Dorothy
Leonard, and grandson Luke Smith.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 27,
2022, at Jennings United Methodist Church where family will receive
friends. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm on Friday January 28, 2022
at Big Timber Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jennings United
