Erma Schneweis

Erma Schneweis, 83, died Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

She was born January 10, 1939, at Spearville, the daughter of Charles C. and Elizabeth Mary (Schawe) Ackerman.  She graduated from of Windthorst High School and was a lifetime Ford County resident. In her younger years she worked as a secretary for hospitals in Garden City, Lamar, Colorado and a short time in California.  On November 27, 1965,  she married Robert “Bob” Schneweis at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. She was a homemaker as well as working with Bob at Schneweis Tax and Accounting for several years.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our lady of Guadalupe and Daughters of Isabella both in Dodge City.  She enjoyed cooking and gardening and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include: her husband of 56 years, Bob; 3 sons, Ron and wife Jerelyn, Alan and wife Paula and Gary and wife Rhnae all of Dodge City; 2 daughters, Jill Mead and husband Jason, McPherson and Stacey Hamilton and husband Todd, Ensign; 19 grandchildren, Zach Schneweis and wife Amanda, Luke Schneweis, Gentry Peterson and husband Tyler, Josh Schneweis, Emily Davis and husband Cody, Matt Schneweis and fiancé, Claire Leis, Logan Sherraden, Brady Sherraden, Riley Sherraden, Gavin Schneweis, Brooklyn Schneweis, Kristin Schneweis, Ethan Schneweis, Megan Schneweis, Eli Mead, Ella Mead, Ryan Hamilton, Tanner Hamilton and Taylyn Hamilton; 6 great granddaughters, Aspyn, Autumn, Geneva, Sadie, Avery and Paige; 3 sisters, Catherine Brungardt, Garden City, Alice Craig and husband Larry, Lubbock, Texas and Martha Strecker, Hays; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Ackerman, Spearville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Shelley Schneweis and brother, Gil Ackerman.

Vigil service followed by Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7:00 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022, both at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding.  The Mass will be livestreamed through the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Facebook page.   Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City.  Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 7:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
