High Plains Mental Health
High Plains Mental Health Center will have a new home in Norton by the end of 2026. The agency has purchased an office building located at 118 N. First Avenue and minor renovations are underway. All Norton staff and services are expected to be fully relocated by year’s end, and an opening date will be announced soon.
High Plains Mental Health Center has outgrown its current location, 211 S. Norton Street, and needed room to grow for the future in continued efforts to meet the region’s needs. Currently, 11 staff members are based at the Norton Branch Office and office space has been a challenge. The new building is more than twice the size of the current facility, offering more staff offices plus additional conference/meeting rooms and a larger waiting area for clients.
“The upcoming move affirms High Plains Mental Health Center’s investment in the Norton community and our commitment to providing needed services in the Noron County region,” said Craig Poe, executive director. “We are excited to welcome clients into a more comfortable space and to continue growing and evolving to better serve the community.”
High Plains Mental Health Center serves 20 counties in Northwest Kansas, and the Norton Branch Office has continued to grow both in terms of number of clients served and also with additional services. Staff in the Norton office provide case management, therapy for clients of all ages, group therapy, plus specialty services such as EMDR therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, an evidence-based intervention for families with young children.
The move will allow more space for future growth while immediately providing an improved, client-centered environment for staff and individuals receiving services.
