
Hays and Ellis County remain in a winter storm watch Wednesday night and Thursday morning, as well as a wind chill warning from Wednesday through Friday morning.
The National Weather Service in Dodge City is predicting 1 to 2 inches of snow to arrive with the bitter cold.
After a high in the mid-30s on Wednesday, the mercury will dive to nearly 10 below zero overnight, with wind chill values near 40 below zero. Winds could gust up to 55 mph Wednesday and Thursday. A high of just 2 below zero is predicted Thursday, with a high of 11 expected Friday.
There will be a slight warmup on Christmas Day, the the mercury will rise to the low-40s and an overnight low in the low-20s.
