RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Fort Hays State Men's Soccer student-athletes Kieran Brown and Tre Smith were named GAC/MIAA Athletes of the Week on Wednesday, September 7. Brown was named the Co-Goalkeeper of the Week, while Smith earned Offensive Athlete of the Week honors.
Brown helped the Tigers to a 1-0-1 record last week with an 0.50 goals against average . He had seven saves and picked up his 14th career shutout in the 2-0 win at MSU Denver. A couple days earlier, his only goal allowed for the week was on a penalty kick by Rockhurst. He recorded two saves in the draw with the Hawks.
Smith scored a pair of goals in his first game at Fort Hays State, helping the team to a 2-0 win on the road at previously unbeaten MSU Denver. It was Smith's first contest of the season.
Brown joins Ryan McCully of Northeastern State as Co-Goalkeepers of the Week. Niklas Kirhoff of Northeastern State was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
