Firma (Kreutzer) Pfannenstiel, age 80, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away September 8, 2020, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care facility, WaKeeney. She was born January 11, 1940 to Isidor and Lidwina Younker) Kreutzer at the family home 10 miles north and 2 miles west of Hays. She attended Hyacinth grade school, and Hays High School until she had to leave school to take care of her mother.

Firma was united in marriage to Darrell “Jim” Pfannenstiel on April 12, 1958 in Hays, KS. They enjoyed 54 years together until Jim’s passing in 2012. In her younger years, she worked as a waitress, went on to work at Duckwall’s in WaKeeney until retirement, and then operated Beaver Express. Firma’s passion was always music, and she was self-taught on the accordion, piano, and guitar. She sang very well, she could yodel, and played in the Gabe Denning Polka band. She enjoyed watching baseball, NASCAR, and was a talented seamstress. Firma loved her iced tea. She was a devout member of Christ the King Church, and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles lodge #3774.

Firma is survived by her son Calvin of WaKeeney; daughter Brenda of Wichita; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband; daughter Debbie; daughter-in-law Cindi; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters.

A visitation will be from 8:30AM to 9:30AM Friday, September 11, 2020, at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. A rosary will then be held, with the funeral service directly following at 10:00AM. Burial will take place at Christ the King Cemetery, WaKeeney.
