Vyrl Whipple

Vyrl Whipple, 82, passed away on June 1, 2021 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.  He was born on August 18, 1938 on the farm South of Beeler, Kansas the son of Virgil and Ethel (Stout) Whipple.

Vyrl was a lifetime resident of Beeler and a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Beeler, a member of the Ness City Lions Club, he was a team bowler for many years and served as an elected official on many boards.  Vyrl will be remembered by a multitude of students as their bus driver as he drove a bus for the Ness City School System for 35 years. On August 25, 1963, he married Neah Sculley in Manhattan, Kansas.

Vyrl is survived by his wife, Neah; one daughter, Belinda and Chuck Fellhoelter of Great Bend; sons, Layton and Jennifer Whipple of Beeler and Jason and Victoria Whipple of Azle, TX; and one brother, Tom Whipple of Cañon City, CO; six grandchildren, Charlie, Chelsea, Sydney (Dustin), Tyler, Haley, and Ayden; one step-grandchild, Nicole; five great-grandchildren, Boston, Paisley, Hannah, Hunter, and Hope; sister-in-law, Ruby Whipple; and two brothers-in-law, Elburn Parker and Ennis (Susan) Sculley.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Grover Whipple; daughter-in-law, Trish (Williams) Whipple; granddaughter, Nicole; sister-in-law, Bonnie Parker; and parents-in-law, Leonard and Bernie (Slagle) Sculley.

Memorial service will be on Monday, June 7, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Ness City, Kansas.  Burial in the Beeler Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Visitation at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
