William Rodney (Rod) Borger

William Rodney (Rod) Borger was born June 18, 1938, on a farm southwest of Ness City, Kansas. He was the son of William and Lois Borger. He passed from this world on June 21, 2024, at the age of 86 years and 3 days in Cedar Village Care Center, Ness City.

Rod married Karen R. Showalter July 25, 1959.  To this union were born Todd Allen and Tracee Ann Borger.

Rod attended grade school and high school in Ness City. He graduated from High School in 1956. After high school he began his apprenticeship in the carpentry and building profession. He progressed to become a highly regarded and sought after builder and craftsman. Many houses and interiors attest to his skills. Along with his profession as a builder, his upbringing as a farmer's son was utilized in his middle years.

Rod was a trustworthy and humble man, who was highly respected by the community.  He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, as well as the Knights of Columbus. 

Rod really enjoyed his early morning coffee with his buddies at CO-OP. They would discuss the world problems and how to fix them. The next day they would do it all over again.  He also loved a good dance and his days at the lake with a crowd of friends. 

Rod is proceeded in death by his parents, his sisters Marjorie, Nathalie and Joanne. He will be missed by his sister Shelby Seib, brother Tim Borger, and their families.

Rod is survived by his loving wife Karen, his son Todd, and spouse Teresa, daughter Tracee, grandchildren Joshua Edler and spouse Ashley, Garrett, Dawson and his great grandchildren Cora Edler and Marin Edler.

 Rod will be missed by many friends, family and all who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Rosary followed by a Parish Vigil will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
