
James “Jim” VonFeldt, age 82 ,of Victoria, Kansas passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.
He was born August 29, 1943, in Hays, Kansas, at Saint Anthony Hospital, the third of five children born to John J. and Irene (Herl) VonFeldt.
Jim attended Elementary school in Vincent, and graduated from Victoria High School with the class of 1961. Then attended Fort Hays State College. While in school he participated in all sports, his favorite being football, as a Junior he was the starting Left Guard on the Victoria Knights first undefeated Football team in 1959. He was considered by some, a good athlete.
On April 5,2002 he married Constance Rae (Bird) Teichman. He was previously married to Charlene Braun, and of that union there were three children, Sandra, Dave, and Peggy.
Jim was involved in a family farming, and ranching operation with his father, and brothers. At the age of 24 he was nominated as one of the outstanding young farmers/ranchers in Ellis County. After his father’s passing, he and his son David continued ranching until his retirement. Jim enjoyed working with cattle and had a keen eye for good livestock.
After an automobile accident in 1978, Jim became involved in the Real Estate business, and was a licensed real estate salesperson in Kansas. After retiring from ranching, he continued to be active in the Real Estate business, and along with his wife Constance operated “Independent Appraisal Service” providing appraisals to bankers, attorney’s, and individuals throughout western Kansas.
Jim enjoyed watching college football, KU basketball, and the Kansas City Chiefs, “but most of all he enjoyed his family”. He attended most all his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. It was rare for him to miss an event. He was a member of The Basilica of Saint Fidelis. He was a past member of Victoria USD 432 School Board, Victoria and Gorham Saddle Clubs, Victoria Knights of Columbus, and a past member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Vincent, where he served mass until the age of 18.
He coached from 1989 until 1996 a Women’s Softball team, made up of Victoria and Ellis County women. His daughters Sandy and Peggy both played on the team and in 1993, the team was ranked 18 th in the Nation by Softball USA..
Jim is survived by his wife, Constance VonFeldt, of the home; his children, Sandra Scheck, Hays, KS; Peggy Klaus, Victoria, KS; Dave VonFeldt, Victoria, KS; his stepson, Chad Tcichman and wife, Candi, Stafford, KS; his siblings, Darlene Schlesinger, Hays, KS; Diane Ruder and husband, Jerry, Hays, KS; John Von Feldt Jr. and wife, Lita, Victoria, KS; his grandchildren, Blake Klaus and Heidi Gerhard; Cody Scheck and wife, Mikayla; Trenton Klaus and wife, Jacy; Trent Teichman; Lori Schoendaller and husband, Colton; his great grandchildren, Hensley Klaus; Brooks Klaus; Reiny Klaus; Easton Scheck; Channing Scheck; Josey Klaus; Severin Schoendaller; and his step granddaughters, Kaisyn Gerhard and Camdyn Gerhard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John J Sr, and Irene VonFeldt; his granddaughter, Emma Caroline VonFeldt; his stepdaughter, Leaa Renee Teichman-Shaffer, his sons-in -Law, Rick Scheck and Terry Klaus; and his brother, Gerald VonFeldt and wife, Harriett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 6, 2026, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis, 900 Cathedral Ave, Victoria, Kansas with Celebrants, Father Curtis Carlson O.F.M. Cap. and Father John Schmeidler with burial in Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Monday, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas.
