The races for the fall city and school board elections are set.
The deadline for interested candidates to file was noon Tuesday and while there were a number of candidates who filed for several positions, there was still not enough interest to force an August primary election.
To force a primary election, there has to be triple the number of candidates file for the number of open seats, plus one.
With three positions up for election on the Ellis and Victoria city councils, Hays City Commission, the Victoria, Ellis and Hays school boards, and the Big Creek, Munjor, Prairie Acres and Suburban Estates Improvement Districts, there would need to be 10 candidates file in each race to force a primary. None of the races reached that threshold.
