Hays High dominant in road win at Liberal

Hays scored 51 points in the first half of consecutive weeks on their way to a win in Liberal 58-14 Friday night.

Roy Maroni rushed for 206 yards and four scores in the first half. Hays scored touchdowns on seven of their eight first half possessions. Liberal was tackled for a safety in the first quarter after a bad snap as well.

Jaren Kanak added two rushing touchdowns and a passing score to Bryce Salmans. 

The defense allowed just 102 yards of offense in the first half. Liberal's lone points came on a 78 yard kickoff return for a score. Their two point conversion failed.

Highlights

The clock ran continuously for a second week in a row with Hays leading by 45 points at halftime. Liberal scored on their first possession making the score 52-14.

Hays, with backups in the entire second half, responded two series later. The Indians went on an 89 yard drive over eight plays. Trent Summers scored on a three yard run for the final margin of 58-14.

Hays ended the night with 511 yards of offense. Liberal totaled 199.

The 3-0 Indians are back at home next week to face the 2-1 Garden City Buffaloes. Hays is 2-0 in the WAC while Garden City has yet to play a conference game. Liberal falls to 1-2 and 0-2.
