Rose Mary Dorzweiler, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 8, 2026, at the family farm where she was born, raised, and spent her life devoted to faith, family, and hard work.

Rose was born on September 14, 1932, to Joseph and Anna (Pfannenstiel) Dreiling. On February 16, 1954, she married Marion Dorzweiler. Together, on the same family farm, they raised their six children and built a life centered on family, and faith. Rose played an active role in the operation of their dairy farm, caring for livestock, chickens, tending to her garden, babysitting grandchildren and supporting the many demands of farm life. She is fondly remembered, by her grandchildren for cooking their favorite meals, especially “bumpy stuff”, caramel corn and her infamous angel food cake.

A faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis, Rose generously served her parish community for many years. She washed and ironed church linens, led the rosary before Mass, and brought Holy Communion to homebound parishioners. Her quiet acts of service reflected her deep faith and compassion for others.

Rose was preceded in death by her son, Leslie Dorzweiler; her parents, her beloved husband of 48 years, sister, Norine Giebler and husband Paul; and her brothers-in-law Donald Gabel, Melvin Schumacher, Bill Wasinger, and Fred Brenneman and his wife, Cora.

She is survived by her son Duane (Karen) Dorzweiler of Ellis and their family: son Eric (Cammie) Dorzweiler of Topeka and daughters Kailey and Abigayle; son Jeff Dorzweiler of Victoria; and son Jeremy (Jasmin) Dorzweiler of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, and sons Samuel and Elijah. Son Brad (Libby) Dorzweiler of Hays and their family: daughter Lyndsay (Jeremiah) Tuttle of Russell and children Colton and Madelyn McKennon; and daughter Jessie (Ryan) Williams of Ellsworth and children Raegan and Easton. Son Lloyd (Bert) Dorzweiler of Kechi survives her, along with daughter Sara (Jon) Masura of Bayfield, Colorado; daughter Lisa Dorzweiler and fiancé Chris George of Wichita; son Matthew Dorzweiler of Hutchinson; and stepsons Luke and Stephen Moran. Twin daughter Karen (John) Smith of Hays also survives her, along with daughter Chelsey (Andrew) Livingston of Dodge City and sons Graham and Jameson; and son Lane Smith (Skip) of Ellis. Twin daughter Sharon (Dennis) Bittel of Ellis and their family: daughter Lacie (Danny) Haas of Ellis and daughters Addalyn and Ainsley; and son Logan (Courtney) Bittel and children Karsyn, Layton, and Briggs. Sister, Norma Schumacher of Hays. Brother-in-law Leo Dorzweiler (Viola) of Catherine, and sister-in-laws Rose Wasinger and Jane Thomas both of Wichita and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose’s legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured, the faith she exemplified, and the family farm she cherished. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, unwavering devotion to her family, and steadfast commitment to her faith.

May she rest in eternal peace.
