The temperature in Hays Tuesday reached 106 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 102 degrees set in 2013, according to the K-State Agricultural Research Center.&nbsp;

The overnight low was 70 degrees, with the temperature sitting at 72 degrees at 8 a.m. Wednesday with 90% humidity in the air.&nbsp;

A break from the scorching heat is expected Wednesday through Saturday, with the National Weather Service in Dodge City forecasting a high near 97 degrees in Hays on Sunday.&nbsp;
