The heat keeps rewriting the record books in Hays.
The temperature in Hays Tuesday reached 106 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 102 degrees set in 2013, according to the K-State Agricultural Research Center.
The overnight low was 70 degrees, with the temperature sitting at 72 degrees at 8 a.m. Wednesday with 90% humidity in the air.
A break from the scorching heat is expected Wednesday through Saturday, with the National Weather Service in Dodge City forecasting a high near 97 degrees in Hays on Sunday.
