Warren Wittman

Warren Wittman, age 76, from Victoria, Kansas, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

He was born November 9, 1945, on the family farm at Vincent, Kansas to Wendelin and Mathilda “Tillie” (Pfannenstiel) Wittman.  He married Arlene (Huser) on May 1, 1964, at Vincent.

Warren was a farmer and a butcher, starting his career at P & B Packers in Hays.  He then worked at the Victoria Farmer Co-op Store for 19 years, and in 1988 went to U-Save Food Store in Hays until they closed.  He and his wife Arlene opened Warren’s Meat Market in Hays, in 2002 and sold the business in 2020.  He grew up on the farm at Vincent and continued farming and raising cattle throughout his lifetime.

He attended Victoria High School, was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis, the 3rdDegree Knights of Columbus, and the 4th Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus all of Victoria.  He had a number of rental properties that he would buy and sell, enjoyed game shows, Dairy Queen, and vegetable gardening,

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Wittman, of the home; his children, Kelly Kuhn and husband, Ivan, Andale, KS; Lori Lane and her husband, Grant, Hutchinson, KS; Curtis Wittman, and his fiancé, Kristi Younger Victoria, KS; his grandchildren, Haley (Joe) Barrow; Gabe Kuhn; Isaac Kuhn; Luke Kuhn; Jaylen Lane; Jocelyn (Tom) Mailloux; Jaron Lane; Joseph Lane; his great-grandson, Leo Mailloux; and his brother, Wayne Wittman, Hays, KS. 

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister-in-law, Arleen Wittman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 25, 2022, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas with Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

A vigil service with the Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Isabella rosary joining will be at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas.  

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Monday, all at The Basilica of St. Fidelis. 

The family suggests memorials payable to: the organization, The Basilica of St. Fidelis or St. Boniface Catholic Church, Vincent, Kansas in care of the mortuary.
