Geneva “Arleen” (Campbell) Rarick, 80, long time resident of Hoxie,
Kansas passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 surrounded by family.
Arleen was born on July 7, 1940 in Oakley, Kansas to William and
Dorothy” Pauline”(McDonald) Campbell the oldest of three girls. She
went to school in Oakley, Kansas. She married Leroy Harold Rarick on
September 8, 1956 in Hoxie, Kansas where they lived for most of their
married life. They were blessed with two daughters Patricia and Karen
and two sons, Terry Lee and Bill.
Arleen worked for Hoxie Lanes as a cook for many years. She also
worked for twenty-five years at the Sheridan County Hospital in the
kitchen and laundry. In her free time, she enjoyed painting and doing
pencil drawing. Arleen never took an art class, but was a natural
artist and had many beautiful creations. She also enjoyed reading
anything she could get her hands on. Sheridan County History was one of
her favorite things to read about. Movies, especially, thrillers were
another form of entertainment she enjoyed. She passed the love of these
movies to her grandchildren. The most important thing in her life
was the love of her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arleen is survived by her children, Patricia Shaw (Mike) of Hoxie,
Kansas, Karen Walden (Matt) of Morrison, Tennessee; and Bill Rarick
(Fran) of Fremont, Ohio; sisters, Barbara Jo Wolf of Carollton, Michigan
and Glenda Aswegan of Clyde, Ohio; eight grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Rarick; parents,
William and Pauline Campbell; one son, Terry Lee Rarick; and grandsons,
Austin and Andrew Rarick; great-grandsons, Ralph Walden and George
Goetz; and great-granddaughter, Anna Marie Goetz.
A graveside service will take place at a later date. Memorials are
suggested to the Sheridan County Benefit Walk and may be sent in care of

Arleen will be remembered with love. She will be missed, but forever she will live within our hearts.
