INDIANAPOLIS – Fort Hays State Men's Soccer was referenced in the first set of NCAA Super Region Rankings, released on Wednesday (Oct. 29). The Tigers (12-0-3) are one of two unbeaten teams listed in the Super Region 3 rankings, joining Cedarville (10-0-5). Ten teams from the Super Region will be selected to the NCAA Tournament, which begins in a couple of weeks following conference tournaments.
Four of the ten teams selected to the Super Region 3 field of the NCAA Tournament will be automatic selections, which includes conference tournament champions from the GAC, GLVC, GMAC, and GLIAC conferences. Fort Hays State is already a lock to play in the GAC Tournament, which will be held Thursday and Saturday (Nov. 13 and 15) by the highest seed in the four-team tournament field.
According to the Super Region 3 PDF found at the bottom of the region rankings on NCAA.com, Fort Hays State has the top RPI, strength of schedule, performance indicator rating, and best in-region and overall record against Division II competition.
Joining Fort Hays State from the Great American Conference in the initial release of Super Region rankings is Rogers State and Northeastern State. Teams are not assigned a ranking in the first release of the rankings and teams under consideration are listed in alphabetical order.
Two more editions of the Super Region rankings will be released yet in the weeks ahead before selections for the national tournament will be made following conference tournaments.
