SALINA - Hays High soccer finished runner-up in the inaugural Salina South Invitational. The Indians fell 2-1 to the host Cougars in Saturday afternoon's championship match.

Hays took the lead in the 37th minute on a goal by Mason Schleicher. South tied it up two minutes later for a halftime score of 1-1. The Cougars scored the lone second half goal in the 60th minute for the 2-1 final.

Hays is 2-2 on the season. They defeated Topeka West and Emporia earlier in the tournament. The Indians host Great Bend on Tuesday.
