Throughout the week of Sept. 9-14, Fort Hays State University's Student Government Association is hosting activities highlighting ways to integrate sustainability into daily life. From educational talks to hands-on service projects, these events emphasize the importance of sustainable practices for individuals and the community.

According to SGA President Ella Burrows, the Green Event offers opportunities for the campus and local community to participate in ethical services and environmental awareness programs.

A campus clothing swap took place on the FHSU campus Tuesday, and a sustainability lecture from Holly Dickman, city of Hays water conservation specialist, was held on Wednesday.

A food drive is ongoing until Sept. 14, with contribution boxes located in buildings across campus. Thursday will feature “Random Acts of Kindness Day.”

Upcoming events include:

Friday, Sept. 13: Ethical Service Session •

• 1-2 p.m. on the second floor of Fischli Wills Student Success Center

• Learn about ethical service and meaningful volunteering

Saturday, Sept. 14: The Green Event Day of Service

• 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Participants can meet in the Sunset Atrium of the Union to volunteer for service projects on campus and in the community
