GREENSBORO, N.C. - Fort Hays State's Derek Woolwine has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Central Region second team as a utility player, announced Wednesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
A two-time All-MIAA selection, Woolwine ranked sixth in the MIAA in slugging percentage (.678), ninth in OPS (1.149), 10th in doubles (17) and 11th in home runs (11). The Boulder, Colo. native led the team in each of those categories except doubles while also pacing the program with 45 RBI and 30 walks.
He was one of the toughest players in the conference to strike out, ranking fourth in the league with a strike-out rate of once every 12.2 at-bats. Woolwine collected 12 multi-hit games, including two contests with four base knocks. The senior started 19 games at second base, 18 at designated hitter and five games at first base.
This is the second-straight season the Tigers have had a coaches All-Region pick, with Ty Riley earning the honor as a starting pitcher in 2025.
