HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team opened its dual schedule with a 32-10 win over Southeast (Neb.) CC Thursday evening (Nov. 7) inside Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers came away victorious in eight of the 10 bouts, including five bonus-point wins.

A.B. Stokes got things going early for the Tigers, capturing a 15-6 major decision at 125 pounds thanks to four takedowns. Andrew Honas followed at 133 pounds and notched an 8-1 decision highlighted by a second-period reversal followed by a three count.

Ely Olberding, the top-ranked wrestler in the NJCAA at 141 pounds, helped the Bobcats respond with a major decision before Fort Hays State rattled off four-straight wins to take back control.

Drew Bell narrowly missed a technical fall at 149 pounds, settling for a 15-1 major decision after recording three takedowns and earning four nearfall points. A pair of first-period takedowns were enough for Marcell Dely to secure a 6-3 decision at 157 pounds. Jacob Judd followed at 165 pounds with a pin in just 39 seconds, one second off the fastest pin by a Tiger this season.

Next up was Connor Padgett at 174 pounds, who dominated his way to a 21-4 technical fall thanks to seven takedowns, four of which occurred in the first period. SCC got back on the board with a second-period pin at 184 pounds before FHSU took home the final two bouts of the evening.Ryan Patterson rallied from behind to capture a narrow 10-9 decision at 197 pounds. SCC's Corey Hyatt picked up one more takedown than Patterson, 3-2, but four Tiger escapes compared to none by the Bobcats gave Patterson the one-point win.

Riah Ostrander wrapped up the evening with an 11-2 major decision at 285 pounds, totaling three takedowns while allowing only one escape.
