Per-day virus rate flat in Ellis Co.; 26 new cases identifed

The Ellis County Health Department in Wednesday's case update reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days remained flat at eight.

There were 26 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Monday. There are currently 101 active cases, including five active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,477 recovered cases.

As of Wednesday, there were 19 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 20 on Tuesday, with nine of those active patients and 10 in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell from 9.4 percent on Monday to 7.2 percent on Wednesday.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,578 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 67 coronavirus-related deaths.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so KDHE figures might not necessarily correspond.
