MANHATTAN — The Kansas Department of Agriculture has announced the results of elections for the state’s five grain commodity commissions — corn, grain sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers, and wheat. These elections took place in Districts IV, V, and VI in the central region of the state.
Kansas Corn Commission
District IV: Brett Grauerholz, Republic
District V: Derek Belton, Marion
District VI: Kent Moore, Pratt
Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission
District IV: Matthew Benoit, Rooks
District V: Kevin Harris, Dickinson
District VI: Nathan Kohls, Sedgwick
Kansas Soybean Commission
District IV: Ronald Ohlde, Washington
District V: Keith Miller, Barton
District VI: No candidates ran for commissioner in this district. The Kansas Soybean Commission will appoint this position.
Kansas Sunflower Commission
No candidates ran for commissioner in Districts IV, V, or VI. The Kansas Sunflower Commission will appoint these positions.
Kansas Wheat Commission
District IV: Michael McClellan, Rooks
District V: Douglas Keesling, Rice
District VI: Martin Kerschen, Sedgwick
Commodity commissions are grower-led organizations committed to supporting the economic viability of their industries and fostering continuous improvement in their respective commodities. Commissioners serve three-year terms, which will begin on April 1, 2026. They oversee how checkoff funds are invested in areas of market development, education, promotion, and research.
