👟 No. 26 FHSU women's cross country third at home meet

HAYS, Kan. - The 26th-ranked Fort Hays State women's cross country team placed third out of 10 teams at the 2025 FHSU Tiger Open Saturday morning at the Tiger Cross Country Course. The Tigers had four runners place inside the top 20 out of the 103 finishers.

Emily Diercks led the Tigers to the line in third place, crossing the line in 17:16.2. She was the top NCAA Division II runner, continuing her undefeated season against DII competition.

Emma Weiner was the next Tiger across the line, completing the five-kilometer race in 18:29.7 to place 17th. Taylor Hoskinson followed closely in 19th, traversing the course in 18:31.7. Eva Cortes also finished inside the top 20, turning in a time of 18:33.1 to place 20th. Ashlyn Harbaugh was the fifth FHSU runner to complete the race, finishing in 18:49.9.

Iowa Western's Juliana Sakat led the field to the line, finishing first in a time of 16:40.0. Colorado School of Mines, the top-ranked NCAA DII team, took home the team title with 43 team points.

The Tigers will jump into postseason competition in two weeks (Oct. 25) when they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. for the MIAA Championships. The women's six-kilometer championship race is set to begin at 10 a.m. from Four Oaks Golf Course.
