
Beth Marie (Williams) Scott passed away on July 15, 2021, at the age of
89. She was born in Smith Center, KS the daughter of Zelma (Bierman)
and Roy Williams.
Beth grew up and attended school in Smith Center, graduating in
1950. Soon after graduation, she married Sidner Scott on December 31,
1951. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. To this union, were born two children, Cindy and Waverly.
Beth and Sid lived on the family farm in Smith County for several
years, later moving to Boulder, CO where Beth worked as a loan officer
and bookkeeper for the Boulder Valley School Credit Union for seven
years, and office manager and bookkeeper for a law firm for twenty-one
years. After Beth and Sid retired, they moved back to Smith Center
where they continued farming for several more years.
Beth was a very devoted and active member of the various churches
she attended. Singing was her passion. She was a member of Garden Lore
Club, and enjoyed gathering with close friends.
Beth was also a member of the International Flying Farmers and
Ranchers Organization where she served as International Duchess for one
year, flying all over the United States and Canada with her husband in
their small plane, promoting the organization and encouraging the
spouses to learn to land the plane. She was one of those spouses. They
were blessed to enjoy the love of travel earlier in their lives and
added many pins to their travel map.
She was very close to her five grandchildren while they were
growing up, especially supporting them in all their academic and
athletic activities. In later years, she was a dedicated grandmother and
great-grandmother.
Preceding her in death was daughter, Cindy (Scott) Brennan and
husband Terry; son, Waverly Scott and daughter-in-law, Jayne (Rietzke)
Scott; sister Dona Kirby and her parents.
She is survived by her spouse, Sidner Scott of Smith Center, five
grandchildren: Brooke (Scott) McDowell and husband, Darin of Kensington,
KS, Kyle Scott and wife, Kelly of Sweeney, Texas, Lucas Scott and wife
Barbara of Germany, Laura (Brennan) Preston and husband, Tyler, of
Sandpoint, Idaho, and Bryan Brennan, of Estes Park, CO, four
great-grandchildren: Brillon and Breckyn McDowell, Kynlee Scott and
Brennan Preston.
