Much needed rainfall fell over Hays last night. Hays received almost an inch of rain in the past 24 hours, bringing the city closer to its average September rainfall.
The K-State Agricultural Research Center south of Hays measured 0.96 inches of rain as of 9 a.m. Friday with 96% humidity in the air.
That brought its September total to 1.70 inches, compared with the 159-year average of 2.24 inches by the end of the month.
The center has also recorded 19.14 inches of moisture this year. The average through the end of September is 19.84 inches.
The three-day weather forecast is calling for a chance of showers during the next two days and temperatures to remain in the 80s during the weekend.
