We are pleased to announce that two of our Hays USD 489 principals have been chosen as the Area 4 Kansas Principal of the Year by the Kansas Principals Association. Kerri Lacy, Lincoln Elementary Principal and Shawn Henderson, Hays High School Principal have been honored with this selection.

Winning this award allows them both to continue in the statewide Principal of the Year competition with the winner being selected on April 1, 2024. The Kansas Principal of the Year will then move on to the national level competition.

We are thrilled with this recognition of our principals and pleased to have Kerri and Shawn representing USD 489.
