Welcome rain began falling in Hays Wednesday night and continued into the morning hours.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for rain all day and into the evening. The three-day forecast includes more rain through the weekend.
According to the K-State Agricultural Center south of town, Hays received 0.93 inches of rain by 8 a.m. The Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall, measured 0.78 of rain as of 7:30 a.m.
Hays is still well behind average rainfall for the month of May. So far, 1.65 inches of precipitation has been measured. The average amount of rain by May 31 is 3.33 inches.
