Hays police arrested a 23-year-old New Mexico man on Sunday, after witnesses reported seeing a person point a gun at victims in the 400 block of West 10th Street.
The suspect allegedly arrived at the residence and requested property. When he was not immediately give the property, Allen allegedly pointed a gun at a victim, held it to his ribs and forced him upstairs to retrieve the property, Tim Greenwood, Hays deputy police chief, said.
Witnesses called 911 at about 2:59 p.m.
Greenwood said officers responded and arrested Keion Sean Allen, who was cooperative, on requested charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and criminal restraint.
Police also seized a Glock handgun that Allen had in his possession, Greenwood said. He said no shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.
Allen was booked into the Ellis County Jail.
Greenwood said he appreciates the efforts from the community.
"Coming full circle, I really appreciate people watching out for their neighbors and not trying to get themselves involved or hurt," Greenwood said. "Giving us a call, that's huge."
