George Laverne Noll

George Laverne Noll, 93, passed away on September 16, 2020, at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, KS.  George was born at the Noll ranch 6 miles southwest of Ransom on December 22, 1926, to Leonard and Eva (Daniels) Noll and continued to live there until his death.  He loved the farm and cattle.

George entered the Navy in 1943 at the age of 17 and served four years.  He returned home and enrolled at Colorado State College in Fort Collins for 2 years of Forestry.  Then he transferred to the University of Kansas where he received his degree in Geology.  He worked for different oil companies in Oklahoma where he met his wife, Mary Anna Leone in Coalgate.  They were married on October 13, 1951.  

George enjoyed reading and playing cards with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anna of Ransom; 4 sons, George Eric and his wife, Pam, of Greensburg, Byron Eugene and his wife, Janet, of Carmel, Indiana, Kevin Wayne and his wife, Gena, of Jetmore, and Jon Kip and his wife, Dara, of Ness City; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and his best friend and companion, Wrangler, his dog.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Kathryn Blocksome and Wilma Sims.

A private family graveside service led by Achile Bourquin will be on Monday, September 21, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ransom Cemetery.  Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2020.
