Longtime Goodland, KS resident Maria Jesus Vasquez, 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at the St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, CO.
Maria was born on November 21, 1927, in Comstock, Texas to Gavino and Santiaga (Sandoval) Vasquez. She was one of eight children. She attended school in Texas up through the 9th grade.
On October 25, 1954, she married Natividad Vasquez in Tahoka, Texas. To this union, eight children were born.
Maria enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, crocheting, knitting and doing word finds. Most of all she enjoyed just spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one son, two daughters, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.
She is survived by her five children; Janie Juarez of Plainview, TX, Raul (Susan) Vasquez of Gladstone, Oregon, Jose Vasquez (Becky) of Olathe, KS, Dulci (Dennis) Fyfe of Goodland, KS and Jr. (Kerri) Vasquez also of Goodland. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 10:30 AM MT at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland with Father Norbert Dlabal officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland with a Parish Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
