Fort Hays State men's basketball returns to action on Monday afternoon in its make-up game at Missouri Western. The game is set to start at 3:30 pm in St. Joseph inside the MWSU Fieldhouse. This game was originally scheduled on January 15, but it was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the MWSU men's program.
The Tigers are coming off a pair of wins at home this past week, knocking off Missouri Southern by 18 points on Thursday and Pittsburg State by 19 on Saturday. The Tigers are now 13-3 overall and 8-3 in the MIAA.
This game marks the first of a string of four straight road contests for the Tigers. They are scheduled to play at Nebraska-Kearney later this coming week on Saturday, then head to Newman and Central Oklahoma the following week.
The Griffons enter this contest at 8-9 overall and 4-5 in the MIAA. They are on a five-game losing streak going back to December 18. Missouri Western will be playing its first game since January 13.
Fort Hays State continues to win games with strong defense this season, allowing on average just 57.9 points per game. The Tigers rank second in NCAA Division II in scoring defense just by a tenth of a point behind West Alabama at 57.8 points allowed per game. Fort Hays State has held opponents to less than 60 points in 12 of 16 contests so far this season and have a record of 11-1 in those contests. They have gone 2-2 in contests where they allowed over 70 points. The Tigers have not allowed more than 77 points in a game this season.
