GOLDEN, Colo. - Four mid-distance runners from the Fort Hays State track and field teams wrapped up last chance weekend at the Mines Last Chance meet Sunday afternoon. All four competed in the 800m run, with each individual surpassing the national qualifying time in the race.

Trever Medina matched his personal-best time in the race, placing first with a time of 1:50.03. The time converted to 1:49.21 on the national performance chart due to altitude, ranking him 14th in Division II and firmly in position to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.

Aaron Mangan set a new PR in the race, finishing second after crossing the line in 1:50.74. His time converted to 1:49.91 due to the altitude, ranking him 23rd in DII this season.

Emily Salmans won the women's 800m with a time of 2:11.18. Her time was converted to a season-best mark of 2:10.20, quicker than her school-record time of 2:10.52 set earlier this season.

Ethan Lang was sixth in the men's race with a time of 1:52.23.

The Tigers will now await Tuesday's (May 16) final announcements of selections for the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships, which will be held May 25-27 in Pueblo, Colo.
