Liberal 54 - Hays 23
A scoreless third quarter cost the Hays High Indians from breaking what is now a 60 regular season game winning streak for the Liberal Redskins. The score was tied twice in the first half and Hays led 17-14 after back to back Re Green three pointers.
The Indians though only scored one point over the next four minutes of the second quarter. Despite the drought the Indians trailed just 26-22 at halftime to the defending WAC champs.
The Indians though never found their offense in the second half scoring just one point in the final sixteen minutes. Liberal made seven second half three pointers and twelve for the game on their way to a 54-23 victory.
Liberal freshman Hailey Contreras scored a career high 22 including five three pointers. Ashley Carrillo added another five threes and 15 points overall.
Hays falls to 1-4 and 0-1 in the WAC. Liberal is 5-0 and 1-0 in the conference.

Hays used a 25-7 second quarter to blow open a one point game with Liberal to move to 5-0 before the Christmas break. The Indians outscored the Redskins 45-17 in the middle two quarters while being tied up 17-17 in the first and fourth quarters.
Liberal buried two early threes to build a 6-2 lead. The game was tied at six and eight points before the Indians took an 11-10 lead with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Neither team scored for the remainder of the frame.
Jace Linenberger had 18 of his game high 20 by halftime building a 36-17 halftime advantage.
The Indians were never threatened in the second half during their defense of the Western Athletic Conference title for the first time this season in the 62-34 victory.
Hays was led by Jace Linenberger scoring 20. Carson Kieffer added 14. The Indians moved to 5-0 on the year and 1-0 in the WAC. Liberal falls to 2-3 and 0-1. The Redkins were led by Embry Williams with 12 points on four three point baskets.
