It was hot and windy in Hays yesterday, hot enough to set a new high temperature.
According to the official report from the K-State Agricultural Research Center, the daytime high Tuesday soared to 92 degrees, surpassing the previous high record for April 12 of 90 degrees set in 1972.
Then the overnight low dropped below freezing to 29 degrees. That was a 63 degree temperature swing in 24 hours.
