Another hot late summer day in Hays on Thursday tied the record high for the date.
According to the K-State Agricultural Research Center, the official temperature on Sept. 17, 2026 reached 101 degrees, tying the previous record high set in 1947.
Friday and Saturday will continue to be unseasonably warm with highs in the 90s.
The three-day weather forecast calls for relief from the heat starting Sunday with a high in the 70s and a chance of rain.
The first day of astronomical fall is Tuesday, Sept. 22.
