GARDEN CITY – The TMP-Marian softball team lost a couple of wild games Tuesday in Garden City. The Monarchs rallied but came up short 12-11 in game one then give up four in the bottom of the fifth and drop the second game 19-16 which was called after five innings due to darkness.
The Monarchs (8-10) nearly rallied from deficits of 8-2 and 12-5 in the first games, scoring three runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh. The Monarchs hit three home runs in the game. Emilee Augustine had two of them and finished 4-for-4 with five RBIs and four runs scored. Sophia Coulter hit a three-run blast in the seventh and went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored.
Garden City rallied for four in the bottom of the fifth to take the nightcap. TMP had scored six in the top of the inning to grab a one-run lead. Kyliegh Allen, Hallie Dreiling, Emilee Augustine and Hannah Garcia all had multi-hit games. Jaci VonLintel and Sophia Coulter, who homered, both drove in three runs.
The Monarchs close out their regular season with a home doubleheader vs. Russell/Victoria Thursday.
