Oid Lee Wineland

Oid Lee Wineland, 99, of Alton, KS passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital in Osborne, KS.  He was born to Clyde C. & Hazel (Tucker) Wineland on October 28, 1920 in Kill Creek Township of Osborne Co., Kansas.

He graduated from Alton High School and furthered his education at Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Oid served in the U. S. Army during WWII and later in the Reserves.  During his time in the service, he was honored with a Bronze Star, 3 Purple Hearts and a Presidential Unit Citation.  After his time in the Army, he served many years helping with the Military Honor Guard at Alton for numerous parades and burials.

He married Letha Thayer and to this union, 2 sons were born.  He worked as a rural mail carrier for many years in the Alton area.

Oid was preceded in death by his parents & his wife, Letha in 2001.

He is survived by his sons: Jim (Kimberly) Wineland of Bucyrus, KS; Ron (Judy) Wineland of Hutchinson, KS; 4 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren.
