👟 HHS girls first, boys second in first ever home track meet

HAYS – The Hays High girls won eight events and finished in first place at the school’s first ever home track and field meet Thursday at the new Hays High School. The boys won four events and finished second, 17 1/2 points behind Dodge City who won the team title.

Lyndi Zimmerman and Audrey Yarmer both won two events. Zimmerman took the 100 hurdles (14.96) and the 100 meters (12.49). She finished second in the 200 meters.

Yarmer won the 1600 (5:28.97) and 3200 meters (11:48.86).

The other first place finishes included Chloe Crawford in the high jump (5-2), Zoe Winter in the shot put (34-3)m freshman Sydney Lewallen in the 400 meters (59.30) and Brooke Bieker in the javelin (115-11).

All of the Hays boys winners came in field events. Archer Amrein won the long jump (20-9.50), Gus Corsair the discus (116-10), Corbin Giebler the javelin (167-3) and Jaxson Chartier the shot put (52-11).

TMP-Marian’s Piper Simpson won the girls’ pole vault (10-7) breaking her own school record.
