The Liver and Onions Drive-Through has become an annual tradition at Hays First Baptist Church, 1111 Fort St.
This year’s free meals will be distributed from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1., “or until the food runs out,” said Pastor G. Chris Prater.
The Men’s Ministry at the church cooks the meal each year. The menu is liver and onions, onion gravy, real mashed potatoes, and a homemade roll. The men are preparing 64 pounds of liver, which will make approximately 128 meals, Prater said.
There is no limit on the number of meals each vehicle may request, he added.
Prater said connecting with the community is one of the reasons the church continues to provide the drive-thru each year.
"This has become one of the events that I look forward to each year--the fellowship among the men as we prepare the meal and then connecting with the community as I walk up and down the drive-thru line," Prater said.
