Wilma J. Payne, 69, of Berryton, passed away on Thursday, January 20,
2022. She was born August 22, 1952, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of
Albert and Caroline (Kober) Zimmer.
Wilma graduated from Marian
High School in Schoenchen, Kansas in 1970 and earned a Bachelor’s of
Science Degree from Hays University in 1974. Wilma was employed as a
Computer Programmer for the Kansas Department of Revenue for 15 years
before retiring in 2018. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic
Church.
Wilma married John A. Payne on May 23, 1981, in Hays. He
survives. Other survivors include children, Brian (Michelle) Payne of
Terre Haute, Indiana, Amy (Cody) Bird of Wellington, Colorado, five
grandchildren, Aaron, Charlie, Benjamin, Julia and Zoe and her sister,
Marian Spittles of Hays.
Mass of Christian Burial will take
place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic
Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service
time. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
