Kenneth E. Wasinger

Kenneth E. Wasinger, age 69, passed away at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita on October 12, 2020.  He was born on April 27, 1951 in Ransom, Kansas the son of Nicholas and Wilma (Munch) Wasinger, while his father was deployed in Korea.  Kenny attended Sacred heart School and Ness City High School both in Ness City, Kansas.  Upon graduation Kenny served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City American Legion Frank Stull Post 152 and the Ransom VFW Post 7972.

Upon his return from the military, Kenny attended K-State university where he played on the rugby team.  Kenny was known by his friends and family as K-Dub.  Kenny loved the outdoors and worked for local farmers during harvest.  He spent many winters coyote hunting and was an avid sports fan.  He worked at the Ness County courthouse as a janitor/maintenance man for many years until his retirement earlier this year.

Kenny is survived by his mother, Wilma Drake, Ness City; brothers, Layne and Alan Wasinger, Ness City; Sisters, Linda Cox (Bob Denning), Hanston, Lavonne Mishler (Tom Coker), Hays and Luciann Ogden (John), Canon City, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Nick Wasinger; brothers, Jim and Verlyn Wasinger; nephews, Justin Cox and Tanner Mishler; and great niece, Courie Cox.

Viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on Wednesday, October 14 from 2:30 until 9:00 p.m.

Rosary will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. followed by Parish Vigil at 7:00.

Graveside funeral service will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Thursday, October 15, 2020, 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Honor Flight or Comfort warriors of the American Legion.
