World Series hero Ralph Terry dies in Larned

LARNED — The baseball  world is mourning the death of Ralph Terry who died Wednesday in Larned where he lived for many years following a successful major league baseball career with the New York Yankees, Kansas City A's, Cleveland Indians and New York Mets.

He led the American League with 23 victories in 1962 and was the MVP of the 1962 World Series, according to the Yankee web site.

Terry is also best known for pitching the walk-off home run to Bill Mazeroski that won the 1960 World Series for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Terry was 86.
