DODGE CITY – John Ceccoli and Will Pendergrass both homered and the Hays Larks rallied from an early deficit to beat the Dodge City A’s 10-6 Sunday night at Cavalier Field. The Larks (10-2, 4-0 RMBL) have won six-straight and nine of their last 10. Dodge City (6-6, 5-5 RMBL) has lost two-straight following a four-game win streak.
Dodge City took the early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first. The Larks scored six runs in the top of the third highlighted by Cecoli’s three-run blast which gave them the lead for good.
The A’s scored a run in the seventh to cut the margin to 7-5 but the Larks scored three in the eighth on an RBI double from Bryson Evans and sacrifice fly from Damian Ruiz and Pendergrass home run.
Dodge City scored their final run in the ninth on a double play in the bottom of the eighth.
Jett Lodes pitched a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to close out the game.
Tyler Schott (2-0) allowed one run on three this with four strikeouts and one walk over three innings of relief and picked up his second win in three games.
Starting pitcher Kam Walton allowed three runs on two hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Pendergrass and Ceccoli both had two hits. Cecolli drove in three runs.
