šŸˆHHS Kanak and Meyers named to KFBCA All-State Team

Postseason honors continue to pile up for Hays High senior standouts Jaren Kanak and Gavin Meyers.

On Tuesday the pair was named to the Kansas Football Coaches Association Top 11 team and the 5A All State Team.

Kanak, who rushed for 1,615 yards and threw for another 910 yards with 35 total touchdowns this season was a 5A All State selection as an athlete.

Meyers finished the year with 124 total tackles, 13 for loss and three sacks and an interception and was named to the 5A All State defensive team as a linebacker.

Both Smith Center and Plainville also had three players each named to the 1A All State Team.

Smith Center offensive lineman Colton Haresnape and running back Jake Kirchhoff were honored on offense and Andrew Wilkinson was named to the 1A All State team as a kicker and punter.

Plainville’s Dakota Yost was named to the All State Team on the defensive line and Brandon Brin at the linebacker position.

Anders Dewey was honored as a returner for the Cardinals.

The teams are made up of seniors only and only players whose coaches are paying members of the Kansas Football Coaches Association are allowed to be nominated and voted for.
