Irma C. Staab, 89, Catharine, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at HaysMed.

She was born July 30, 1932 ,in Catharine, the daughter of Albert C. and Cherubim (Giebler) Staab.  Irma devoted her whole life to the Catholic Church.  She was a part-time housekeeper for the Capuchins at St. Joseph Church in Hays for 20 years, cleaned the St. Catherine Catholic Church for 20 years, and was the first CCD teacher in the St. Catherine parish after the nuns left.  Her memberships included:  St. Catherine Catholic Church, the St. Catherine Altar Society Christian Mothers, and the Secular Franciscan Order of Victoria.  On April 23, 2003, the Capuchins affiliated her to the Order of Friars Minor and the Capuchin Province of Mid-America.  She enjoyed Bingo, genealogy, old family photographs, and researching the Staab family heritage.

Survivors include three sisters: Mary Lang of Hays, Patricia A. Staab of Russell, and Roseann Seader of Louisville, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Elmer Staab, Marion Staab, Roland Staab, and her twin brother Irwin Staab, and one sister: Arlene Clyncke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 16, 2021, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, with Fr. Earl Befort officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Sunday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until 10:00 on Monday at the church.  An Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary will be at 6:00 pm followed by a vigil service at 6:30 pm, all on Sunday at the funeral home.
