RUSSELL COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 4a.m. Friday in Russell County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2024 Freightliner semi driven by Brandon Dennis Wuolukka, 55, Wichita, was westbound on Interstate 70 just east of of 176th Street. The driver fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle drifted off to the right and made contact with a KDOT guardrail, continued into the north ditch thru a barbed wire fence and came to rest upright in a field.
EMS transported Wuolukka to the Russell Regional Hospital. He was properly restrained, according to the KHP.
