⚾ Monarchs 3-seed at 2-1A state, open with Colgan

TOPEKA – The TMP-Marian baseball team will be the three-seed at next week’s 2-1A State Baseball Championship at the Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend. The Monarchs will open with Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan in the fourth and final state quarterfinal game on Thursday, May 29.

TMP brings a 24-5 record into their second straight state tournament appearance and 18th overall. They defeated Ell-Saline, Ellinwood and Ellis at their own regional to advance.

The Panthers are 16-9 and defeated Pleasanton, Marmaton Valley and Arma-Northeast in the Humboldt regional, outscoring the three opponents 37-1. They are making their fifth straight state tournament appearance. They won the state title in 2023.

The Monarchs and Panthers met in last year's third place game with SMC winning 10-0.
