Helen Mary (Weber) Pfeifer, age 88, formerly of Ellis, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 at her son’s home in Manhattan surrounded by family. She was born August 13, 1931 on the family farm in Glenco Township, Trego County, KS to John and Theresa (Augustine) Weber, Sr. She married Walter J. Pfeifer on November 8, 1949 in Ellis.
Helen loved crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, and sewing. She was a farmer, homemaker, and enjoyed selling her beautiful crocheted items at craft sales and donating them to the church. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella, Ellis.
Survivors include four sons, Glen and wife Penny, Oakley; Daryl and wife Judy, Anthony; Kevin, Wichita; Randy and wife Gina, Manhattan; four daughters, Donna Shepard, Chapman; JoAnn Crist and husband Mark, McPherson, Marlene Herrman and husband Kevin, Abilene; Jeanette Dreiling and husband Pat, Wichita; daughter-in-law Julie, Norman, OK; sister Katie Eberle, Wakeeney; sister-in-law Francis Southard, Wichita; sister-in -law Josephine Wiesner, Concordia; 28 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Walter (Feb.18, 2007); son Leon Pfeifer (Aug 3, 2016); daughter Cheryl Turner-Groff (Oct 6, 1986); son-in-law Greg Shepard; infant great-grandson Isidore; great-granddaughter Aly Kent; two sisters Anna Geist and Thresia Aschenbrenner; infant sisters Johanna and Josephine Weber; five brothers Ignatius, Mike, Joe, John, and Ambrose Weber.
Services will be Tuesday, July 21st at 10:00 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. Final resting place will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ellis.
Visitation is Monday, July 20th from 6:00-8:00 with a combined Rosary and Vigil all at 7:00 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ellis.
