DODGE CITY - The Hays High girls won the Western Athletic Conference title by thirty points over Dodge City on Thursday evening. The boys placed second, three points behind Dodge City.

Hays left the meet with 13 total champions. Eight of the champions came on the girls side, five on the boys.

Lyndi Zimmerman was named WAC Athlete of the Year. Coach Kip Keeley was honored as girls Coach of the Year.

Zimmerman won a pair of titles in the 100 meters (12.16) and 100 meter hurdles (14.96.) She was runner-up in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.34.

Brooke Bieker won the triple jump at 36'7" and backed that up with a third place medal in javelin with a distance of 118'2".

Zoe Winter grabbed gold in shot put with a heave of 38'1.25".

A pair of freshmen left with titles for the girls. Sydney Lewallen broke the Hays High school record and conference meet record in the 400 with a finish of 57.49. Chloe Crawford won a jump off with three other jumpers to win high jump at 5'2". 

The Indians placed two more jumpers in the event. Caleah Sanders also finished at 5'2" and finished fourth while Kendall Schulte placed fifth.

Aralen Maupin placed third in the 400 at 1:01.44.

Lewallen then took second in the 200 meters at 25.73 and Kamryn McCall was just .04 seconds behind for third. A half-second separated first through fourth place in the race.

Kenlee Vehige cleared 10'6" in the pole vault to grab a WAC gold medal. 

Lynsi Kanak and McCall finished third and fifth in long jump. Kanak went 16'6.5" and McCall at 16'4.75".

The 4x100 meter relay took home gold, 4x400 silver, while the 4x800 relay placed third.

Audrey Yarmer placed fourth in the 1600 at 5:52.04.

Alexa Cooley took fourth in the 800 with a finish of 2:32.81.

Kendall Schulte placed fifth in javelin with a throw of 105'1".

McCall placed fifth in the 100 at 12:16.

The Hays boys took the top three spots in both shot put and discus to lead the charge.

Jaxson Chartier won the event (53'11.5"), Caleb Engler took silver (50'11.75") and Tanner Geist was third (50'11".)

Gus Corsair was at the top of the podium in discus with a distance of 159'3". Parker McGuire placed second at 157'8" and Chartier was third at 140'8".

Jace Myers was the conference champ in pole vault by clearing 13'0".

Brogan Albers came home a two-time champion. He cleared the 110 meter hurdles fastest for gold with a time of 15.09. Albers backed up that performance with a 39.44 in the 300 hurdles for his second gold.

Connor Sloan was runner-up in the 400 meters, dipping under 50 seconds, at 49.8.

Archer Amrein and Kobe Schmidt went 2-3 in triple jump. Amrein went a distance of 42'10.50" and Schmidt 40'7".

Riley Windholz was third in long jump at 20'4".

Two placed in javelin for the Indians. Jaxon Prediger threw 151'2" for third and Amrein 146'10" finished fifth.

Holden Lind was fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.14.

The 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays all placed third.
