Karen Gayle Eskew was born August 25, 1960, in Atwood, Kansas, to Gerherdt
and Mildred (Wilkening) Waterman. She passed away on November 26, 2020, at Hays Medical Center at the age of 60.
Karen grew up in rural Decatur County and was a 1979 graduate
Decatur Community High School. She went on to receive her Bachelors
degree from Concordia University in Seward, NE. Karen married David
Eskew on March 27, 2003, in Oberlin, Kansas. She worked for Decatur COOP
(Ampride) as a cashier and was an EMT for over 20 years.
Karen was a
member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oberlin, Lutheran Women’s
Ministry League and was the secretary for the church. In her spare time,
she enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, and reading. Most of all she
loved her family and was known as the organizer in the family.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David
Waterman.
She is survived by her husband, David of the home; siblings: Ed (Kathy) Waterman, Elmer (Margaret) Waterman, and Melvin Waterman; cat, Oreo; dogs, Panda and Kallie and extended family and friends.
